Abstract PURPOSE:To make a slide variable resistor thin for the purpose of using the device in an electronic equipment which needs to be reduced in size such as a video camera and a still camera. CONSTITUTION:A flange 27 which has a surface parallel with an upper flat section of a cover 26 is formed in the lower part of the device. In the inside of the cover 26, a driving board 26 provided with brushes 17 is located. The flange 27 is located on a resistor substrate 19, being caused to abut an upper surface of the substrata and a metal fitting 24 is located under the resistor substrate 19, being caused to abut an upper surface of the substrate. A leg 23 of the metal fitting 24 is bent inwards to fasten the flange 27. The cover 26, the resistor substrate 19 and the metal fitting 24 are incorporated into one body to form a thin slide variable resistor.
