Abstract PURPOSE:To obtain a filmy diamond formed body having little variance in thickness by laminating plate bodies composed of a super plastic material on the diamond film to make a laminated plate, fitting this laminated plate to a forming die having the prescribed shape, applying pressure to the laminated plate under condition of heating the laminated plate to the specific temp. and deforming. CONSTITUTION:On both surfaces at front and back sides of the diamond film 1, parting agent (BN) is applied and the super plastic material plates 2, 2 composed of stainless steel (SUS 329) are laminated to make the laminated plate 3. This laminated plate 3 is fitted to the die 4 and the peripheral part is held between the upper and lower dies 5, 6. In the upper die 5, a square shaped recessed part 7 and a gas blowing hole 8 are formed, and in the lower die 6, an almost semi-spherically shaped recessed part 10 and a gas venting hole 11 are formed. Successively, the laminated body 3 is heated to 800-1500 deg.C, and an argon gas is blown into the die 4 from the gas blowing hole 8 and the laminated body 3 is gradually deformed and finally stuck to the recessed part 10 in the lower die 6. Then, the gas blowing velocity is adjusted so that the strain velocity of the laminated body 3 becomes about 10<-3>/sec and finally, about 10kg/mm gas pressure is held for 10min to obtain the filmy diamond formed body 20.
