PURPOSE:The titled composition, containing a specific aromatic alkane derivative and an organic phosphorus insecticide and acaricide as active constituents, and having not only enlarged insecticidal spectrum but also synergistically enhanced insecticidal effect and controlling effect. CONSTITUTION:An insecticidal and acaricidal composition containing a compound of the formula (Ar is phenyl or naphthyl which may be substituted; R is methyl, ethyl or isopropyl; R is H or methyl; R and R together with the carbon atom to which R and R are linked form cycloalkyl; R in the case of pyrethroid is a radical group commonly used in the form of R OH), e.g. 1-[3-(4- fluorophenoxy)phenyl]-4-(4-fluorophenyl)-4-methylhexane, and an organic phosphorus insecticide and acaricide, (e.g. O,O-dimethyl phosphate). The composition exhibits remarkable effect against even injurious insects having resistance to the carbamate based insecticide and acaricide.
