Abstract PURPOSE:To obtain a deodorant having excellent deodorizing performance against lower aldehyde by depositing a mixture of polyalkyleneimine and nonionic hygroscopic org. material in a specified ratio on powdery activated carbon. CONSTITUTION:A mixture of polyalkyleneimine and nonionic hygroscopic org. material is deposited on powdery activated carbon, which is then applied on a base material and dried. The polyalkyleneimine is, for example, poly(ethyleneimine), poly(ethylaziridine), etc., and the nonionic hygroscopic org. material is, for example polyethylene glycol, glycerine, pentaerythritol, etc., and these materials are mixed in a specified proportion. The weight ratio of the polyalkyleneimine to the nonionic hygroscopic material is 1 to (1 - 8), and to total weight of the two is 0.14 - 1.8mg/m for the effective surface area of the activated carbon. This deodorant has excellent deodorizing performance against bad odor and harmful odor such as lower aldehyde, acid gas, etc., and can be widely used.
