PURPOSE:To obtain a highly accurate electrode body structure which will hardly cause mechanical distortion in the case of manufacturing as compared with a prior press fitting fixation, and realize a plate type display unit capable of high quality image display by carrying out electrode fixation by fixing a pin, a ring and a support plate together by means of welding while using a laser beam arid/or the like. CONSTITUTION:A pin 48 and a support plate 47 are constituted of metal. The edge part of the pin 48 is connected to the support plate 47 by means of butt weld while using a method such as a laser welding, so that it is implanted without causing distortion or deformation to the support plate 47. Furthermore, this pin 48 carries out through engagement between control electrodes 44, 45 and 46 and spacers 41, 42 and 43, and also projects up to the rear side of an electrode substrate 35. After an insulating sleeve 49 and a metallic ring 50 as a fixing means are embedded in the other edge part of the pin 48, the ring 50 and the pin 48 are fixed by means of the laser welding.
