PURPOSE:To display an excellent dewatering effect and to obtain a dehydrated cake with a low water content by forming a dewatering belt of coarse-grained filter cloth with the specific permeability and supporting plows provided with flange parts freely rotatably and movably vertically on the upper surface of the belt. CONSTITUTION:When the sludge is supplied from a sludge supply part 3 to the surface of the dewatering belt 1, since the dewatering belt 1 is formed of the relatively coarse-grained filter cloth with the permeability 10000-20000 cc/cm , its dewatering effect is high and free water is rapidly removed. Then, the free water is dehydrated by gravity on the inclined belt surface and only the sludge is sent to a dewatering zone 4. Moreover, the cylindrical plows 5 arranged zigzag on the surface of said dewatering belt 1 push the way through the sludge and form grooves in the flowing direction and the surface of the dewatering belt 1 is exposed, so the dehydrating is further accelerated. Since each plow 5 is supported freely rotatably and movably vertically on a vertical shaft 6, even in case it is caught by a fiber in the sludge, it rotates by its resistance and floats the fiber caught in front to the rear.
