Abstract | PURPOSE:To manufacture a display device with good precision at low cost by arranging transparent electrodes inside two plates and sandwiching a thin film, sealing the film, thereby forming a box sealing the thin films hermetically. CONSTITUTION:The plates 61 and 62 are made of glass or polyethylene phthalate films, a thin film 3 is structured by filling continuous porous space parts in a noncrystalline organic polymer 3 with nematic liquid crystal 4 and dichroic coloring matter 5, and the porous space parts 3a of the noncrystalline organic polymer 31 are formed by casting the mixture 32 of the noncrystalline organic polymer 31, nematic liquid crystal 4 with positive dielectric anisotropy, dichroic coloring matter 5, and a good solvent common to those three kinds of materials in a plane shape and vaporizing the common good solvent. Then the transparent electrodes 1 and 2 are arranged inside the plates 61 and 62 to sandwich the thin film 3, whose periphery is sealed to constitute the box sealing the thin film 3 hermetically. Consequently, the display device which has no visual angle dependency and has a fast response and good precision is obtained at low cost. |
