Abstract NEW MATERIAL:A bifunctional peroxyester expressed by formula I (R is 1-5C alkyl or phenyl). USE:Useful as a radical polymerization initiator for vinyl monomer which is a polymer initiator capable of exhibiting remarkable effects on high polymerization and having high solubility in monomer and solvent and having high safety when used and further capable of producing a polymer having large molecular weight and strong mechanical strength. PREPARATION:An acid chloride expressed by formula II is reacted with a hydroperoxide expressed by formula III in the presence of an alkali in a solvent such as benzene or toluene at -10 to 40 deg.C, preferably - 10 to 30 deg.C to provide the compound expressed by formula I.
