Abstract | PURPOSE:To avoid definite damage due to knocking in a high load range, and ensure a safe travel by delaying ignition timing under the predetermined condition or cutting fuel supply in a lean range. CONSTITUTION:A control means (d) makes the feedback control of an intake air or fuel supply amount on the basis of output from an air-fuel ratio detecting means 6 via a range discrimination means (c) in such a way that the air-fuel ratio of an intake mixture becomes a target value, when an engine is within an air-fuel ratio control range. Furthermore, when the air-fuel ratio is lean in an output air-fuel ratio range regardless of the establishment of the feedback control, ignition timing, for example, is delayed or the fuel supply in the lean range is interrupted, upon satisfaction of at least one of conditions where the feedback control is not established under the air-fuel ratio control range and the existence of the predetermined amount or more of air, and clamping takes place in the lean state. |
