Abstract | PURPOSE:To obtain a rectifier which can be approached in size to the ultrafine size of molecular level by using an oxidizing/reducing substance as the component material of an electric circuit element. CONSTITUTION:A first oxidizing/reducing substance film 3, a second oxidizing/ reducing substance film 4 and electrodes 2a, 2b electrically connected to the films 3, 4 are formed, and one of the films 3, 4 is of a film made of redox protein or quasi-redox protein in which electrons can be transmitted in a predetermined direction. The other is of a single molecule film formed by a single molecule film of an organic synthetic molecule formed by a Langmuir project method or a chemical modifying method for chemically modifying a single molecule accumulated film or an electrode with organic synthetic molecule, and rectifying characteristic is generated by utilizing the difference of redox potential of the oxide reducing substance. Thus, a rectifier size can be approached to the ultrafine size of molecular level. |
