Summary:To surely release a lock mechanism and prevent articles from flying out by an expanded screen.SOLUTION: The present invention relates to an article fall prevention device 2 for a rack, which includes: a cylindrical roll 11 rotatably provided on an upper part of a rack 1 having a shelf board 3 and columns 5; a screen 6 wound around the roll 11; a weight 16 provided on a tip of the screen 6; a locking mechanism 12 for preventing the roll 11 from rotating; and a seismic mechanism 13 for releasing the locking mechanism 12 when vibration is detected. The locking mechanism 12 includes: a gear 31 having a plurality of teeth provided on an end of the roll 11; a pin 32 for engaging with an engagement surface 31b formed on the teeth and moved by the seismic mechanism 13; and a roller 32a rotatably provided relative to the pin 32.
