Abstract To provide a pump capable of preventing a retainer from being sandwiched between an impeller and a step portion of a rotary shaft when assembling the pump.SOLUTION: A pump P is equipped with a retainer 41 that is held by a spring 33 pressing a rotation ring 31 of a mechanical seal 20 to a stationary ring 32, and a retainer holder 50 attached to a back side of an impeller 2. the retainer holder 50 has a peripheral wall 52 in which the retainer 41 is fitted inside, and a bottom wall 53 extending inward in a radial direction from the peripheral wall 52. The peripheral wall 52 projects out toward the mechanical seal 20 from the bottom wall 53.
