Abstract To provide an automatic analyzer and an adjustment method with which it is possible to adjust a cleaning liquid amount accurately in a short time.SOLUTION: Provided is an automatic analyzer that, when cleaning a dispensing probe, discharges a cleaning liquid in a reference liquid amount from a cleaning nozzle while a tip of the dispensing probe is assumed to be at a cleaning position. When a position at which liquid contact is detected in a case where the cleaning liquid in the reference liquid amount is discharged when a horizontal distance from the cleaning nozzle is farther than the cleaning position and lower than the cleaning position and the tip of the dispensing probe is at the position, is assumed to be a first adjustment position, a control unit causes, when adjusting the cleaning liquid amount, the cleaning liquid to be discharged while the tip of the dispensing probe is at the first adjustment position, and after confirming whether or not liquid contact is detected, causes the cleaning liquid to be discharged while the tip of the dispensing probe is downward or upward of the first adjustment position.
