Abstract | To further equalize the frequency of use of nozzles in recording an image with a plurality of nozzle rows.SOLUTION: An image processing apparatus generates data for forming an image represented by input image data on a recording medium by using a recording head having nozzle rows arranged in plurality (L rows) in a second direction and each having a plurality of nozzles arranged in a first direction. The image processing apparatus converts the input image data into a first dot pattern representing dots recorded by the recording head based on a threshold matrix, assigns the dots in the first dot pattern to each of the nozzle rows so that the nozzles of the recording head are used in a period of the L rows, and obtains a second dot pattern representing recording dots for every nozzle row. The power spectrum of a frequency space in the first dot pattern has blue noise characteristics or green noise characteristics in which the power in a low-frequency band is reduced, and the powers of a frequency corresponding to the period of the L rows and its multiple frequency in the second direction are reduced.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
