Abstract | To solve a problem in a sheet feed type scanner that, when it is miniaturized, a size of a sub supply tray becomes smaller so that it is hard to appropriately support a manuscript to be transported.SOLUTION: An image reading device includes: a device body having a reading unit for reading an image of a manuscript to be transported; a manuscript supporting unit which is positioned upstream of the reading unit, and supports the manuscript to be transported; and a deployment supporting unit which can be housed and deployed to/from the manuscript supporting unit, and supports the manuscript to be fed together with the manuscript supporting unit by being deployed from the manuscript supporting unit. The deployment supporting unit includes: a first deployment unit which can perform storage and deployment, by rotating to the manuscript supporting unit, and extends in a width direction being a direction crossing the manuscript feed direction in a state stored in the manuscript supporting unit; and a second deployment unit which can perform storage and deployment to the first deployment unit, and extends in the width direction in a stored state of the deployment supporting unit.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 11
