Abstract | To provide an elevator for a ship capable of efficiently utilizing a space inside a ship by reducing a cross sectional area of a hoistway while providing various constitution members required for operation at positions not to interfere with an escape area.SOLUTION: An elevator for a ship includes: a hoistway; a pair of support members fixed to an aggregation side surface of the hoistway; a guide rail fixed to the support member along the hoistway; a car having a car door and a guide member traveling along the guide rail and held in a cantilever state by the guide member; and a counter weight connected to the car through a rope wound around a sheave and vertically moved between the pair of support members. A door lead-in area for storing the car door is provided between a front part wall surface and one support member. A cable movement region is provided between the other support member and a rear part wall surface. An escape region having an escape ladder is provided between the car and the rear part wall surface and between the aggregation side surface and a side surface facing thereto.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
