Abstract | To provide an optical element, in which when a polarizing plate obtained by combining with a polarizer is applied to a display element, well-defined black at visual recognition time from a front direction in a black display is given, a laminate, a display device, and a manufacturing method of the optical element.SOLUTION: An optical element comprises: an optical anisotropy layer; and an optical isotropic member. In the optical element, the optical anisotropy layer and the optical isotropic member contact to each other, an absolute value of a difference between an average refractive index of the optical anisotropy layer and a refractive index of the optical isotropic member is less than or equal to 0.08, and the optical isotropic member has a protrusion part that protrudes to an opposite side of an optical anisotropy layer side.SELECTED DRAWING: None
