To provide an elevator system for improving maintenance of dispersive availability of elevator group management control and availability of the entire elevator system, and to provide a method for controlling the elevator system.SOLUTION: In an elevator system that has elevator controllers 10 for each of plural elevators and allows them to be connected by a network, elevator controllers 11 to 13 actually control an elevator by an operation system by forming one portion of operation control processing in a multiple configuration by an operation system and a preliminary system, components for performing processing of the operation system and the preliminary system and then a rationality determination part are allowed to be mutually different when realizing processing of the rationality determination part for determining abnormality from normality, and the operation system and the preliminary system by using software components, and components that take charge of one of the operation system, the preliminary system, and the rationality determination part in one elevator controller take charge of another of the operation system, the preliminary system, and the rationality determination part in another elevator controller.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1a 【課題】エレベーター群管理制御の分散可用性及びエレベーターシステム全体の可用性維持を向上するエレベーターシステム及びその制御方法を提供する。【解決手段】複数のエレベーター毎にエレベーターコントローラ１０を備え、それらがネットワークで接続されたエレベーターシステムであって、エレベーターコントローラ１１～１３は、運行制御処理の一部を稼働系と予備系による多重化構成として稼働系によりエレベーター号機の実制御を行い、かつ、異常と正常を判定する合理性判定部と稼働系と予備系の処理を、ソフトウェア部品を用いて実現する際に、各エレベーターコントローラにおける稼働系と予備系と合理性判定部の処理を行う部品は互いに相違する部品とされ、一のエレベーターコントローラにおける稼働系と予備系と合理性判定部のいずれかを担当した部品は、他のエレベーターコントローラにおける稼働系と予備系と合理性判定部の他のいずれかを担当する。【選択図】図１ａ
