Abstract To provide a vehicle control device which prevents switching of a shift range which causes a driver of a vehicle to have a feeling of strangeness while the vehicle is in automatic parking.SOLUTION: A vehicle control device 10 controls operation of a vehicle 1 mounted with a transmission 71 having a first forward range and a second forward range with a deceleration ratio larger than the first forward range.
