Abstract | To provide a medium loading device capable of suppressing buckling of a medium even when slidability of the medium deteriorates below a level assumed from a recording density, and suppressing deterioration of productivity when the slidability of the medium does not deteriorate to such a degree as to be assumed from the recording density.SOLUTION: A medium loading device 11 comprises: a side end aligning member which is located at a standby position WP when a medium is discharged and aligns the side end of the medium; and a control unit. The control unit specifies a first position WP1 which overlaps with a medium M1 to be discharged this time in a width direction X as the standby position WP when a value based on the first information relating to a recording density of at least one medium of the medium M1 to be discharged this time and a medium discharged last time is equal to or larger than a threshold value, and specifies a second position WP2 which does not overlap with the medium M1 to be discharged this time in the width direction X as the standby position WP when the value based on the first information is less than the threshold value. The control unit adjusts the threshold value based on second information relating to at least one medium of the media recorded until the discharge of this time.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
