Abstract | To provide a device and method for detecting a dead angle in a warehouse that can detect dead angle areas caused by the placement of luggage in the passenger compartment when pallets are used as luggage storage areas.SOLUTION: A device for detecting dead angles in a warehouse is provided with a mechanical parking device 100 having a laser radar device 12 and a data processing device 14, and a plurality of carriages 20. The laser radar device 12 scans the whole area of a pallet positioned at a boarding/unloading position with a laser beam 6 and detects three-dimensional coordinates of its reflection position RP. The carriage 20 has a preset carriage width CB and a carriage length CL, and can be laid flat on a pallet. The data processing device 14 estimates the arrangement pattern AP of the carriage 20 from the three-dimensional coordinates, detects an undetected area BA on the pallet from the arrangement pattern AP, and detects a dead angle area BC from the undetected area.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
