Abstract To provide an optical anisotropic layer whose linearity of tilt angle variable is high, and with which it is possible to suppress a change of color hue in a front and a diagonal direction when used as a circular polarizing plate in an organic EL display device, as well as an optical film, a circular polarizing plate and an organic EL display device.SOLUTION: Provided is an optical anisotropic layer formed using a liquid crystal composition that contains a liquid crystal compound. The optical anisotropic layer is created by fixing the orientation state of the liquid crystal compound, the orientation state being such that the liquid crystal compound is oriented in twisted nematic mode and the angle of optical axis of the liquid crystal compound against the surface of the optical anisotropic layer successively changes along the thickness direction.
