Abstract To provide a metal detector capable of improving the S/N ratio to noises caused by disturbance.SOLUTION: The metal detector includes: a magnet 20 that magnetizes metal foreign matters included in an inspection object or creates a magnetic field in a space through which the inspection object passes; and a detection unit 30 that has a plurality of coils 32 opposing the magnet 20 across a hollow part 12, where the inspection object moves, and induces an electromotive force generated by the change of magnetic flux density due to metal foreign matter.
