At the completion of the fixing job, when the total travel distance of the heating rotating body and the total number of prints are determined to be less than a threshold Hth and a threshold Mth (No in S12, No in S13), the fixing device executes idling with an idling time as ta and a heating target temperature of the heating rotating body as T2, and when any one of the total travel distance and total number of prints is equal to or more than the threshold Hth and the threshold Mth (Yes in S12, or Yes in S13), and when a heat storage index indicating a warming up degree of nip part forming members is equal to or more than Tth (Yes in S16), the fixing device sets the heating target temperature of the heating rotating body to T3 lower than T2 and sets the idling time to tb longer than ta (S17) before executing idling.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 12 【課題】空回転停止時におけるスティックスリップによる異音の発生を防止する。【解決手段】加熱回転体と加圧回転体のニップ部に未定着トナー像が形成されたシートを通紙して、定着ジョブを実行する定着装置であって、定着ジョブ終了時において、加熱回転体の総走行距離と総印字枚数がそれぞれ閾値Hth、Mth未満と判定された場合には(S12でNo、S13でNo)、空回転時間をta、加熱回転体の加熱目標温度をT2として空回転を実行するが、上記総走行距離、総印字枚数のいずれかが各閾値Hth、Mth以上の場合であり(S12でYesまたはS13でYes)、かつ、ニップ部形成部材の温まり具合を示す蓄熱指標値がTth以上の場合には(S16でYes)、加熱回転体の加熱目標温度をT2より低いT3に設定すると共に、空回転時間をtaより長いtbにして(S17)空回転を実行する。【選択図】図12
