Summary:To provide a system for calibrating an optical probe of a chromatic range sensor connected to a coordinate measurement machine.SOLUTION: A calibration system for a chromatic range sensor (CRS) optical probe of a coordinate measurement machine (CMM) includes a cylindrical calibration member and a spherical calibration member. The cylindrical calibration member has at least a first cylindrical calibration surface. A central axis of the first cylindrical calibration surface extends along a Z direction, and is aligned so as to be substantially parallel to a rotational axis of a CRS optical probe. A spherical calibration member has a spherical calibration surface having a plurality of first surface parts. The CMM is operated to obtain a radial distance measurement value of the cylindrical calibration member and determine cylindrical calibration data using the radial distance measurement value.
