Abstract | To provide DNA enzymes capable of cleaving certain RNA, of which active center comprises a sufficiently small number of nucleotides.SOLUTION: Disclosed is a DNA enzyme having an activity to cleave a target RNA in the presence of zinc, where the enzyme comprises, from 5' to 3', a first arm region hybridizable with a region adjacent to 3' of cleavage region of the target RNA, a core region and a second arm region hybridizable with a region adjacent to 5' of the cleavage region of the target RNA, and the core region is a region of seven nucleotides or less containing a base sequence being 5'-AC-3', 5'-AA-3', 5'-AT-3', 5'-AG-3', 5'-GC-3', 5'-GA-3', 5'-GT-3', 5'-GG-3', 5'-ACA-3', 5'-TCA-3', 5'-GCA-3', 5'-GCT-3', or 5'-CCA-3'.SELECTED DRAWING: None
