Abstract | To provide a device for controlling a hybrid vehicle that can reduce the number of start-up times of an internal combustion engine and prevent deterioration in durability of a starting device.SOLUTION: A device for controlling a hybrid vehicle includes: a shift mode switching unit 16 for switching a shift mode including a manual shift mode and an automatic shift mode; and a travel mode switching unit 17 for switching a mode between a motor travel mode and an engine use mode of travelling using the power of an internal combustion engine 2 in accordance with the shift mode. When the shift mode is switched to the manual shift mode from the automatic shift mode, the travel mode switching unit 17 changes the travel mode to the engine use mode and prohibits switching of the travel mode thereafter for a specified time.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
