Summary:To provide a method for producing a toner exhibiting excellent image density of a printed matter and hot offset resistance, and a toner.SOLUTION: [1] A method for producing a toner includes a step 1 of aggregating resin particles X containing an amorphous resin A having a component derived from hydrocarbon wax W1 having a hydroxyl group or a carboxy group and a polyester resin segment in an aqueous medium in the presence of a wax D1, a wax D2 and a colorant, and obtaining aggregated particles; and a step 2 of fusing the aggregated particles obtained in the step 1. A melting point Tm1 of the wax D1 is lower than a melting point Tm2 of the wax D2, in the step 2, a temperature T at which the aggregated particles are fused in the step 2 is equal to or higher than a temperature that is lower than the melting point Tm1 of the wax D1 by 10°C or more and is equal to or lower than a temperature higher than the melting point Tm2 of the wax D2 by 10°C or more. [2] A toner contains an amorphous resin A having a component derived from hydrocarbon wax W1 having a hydroxyl group or a carboxy group and a polyester resin segment, a wax D1, a wax D2 and a colorant.
