To provide a method for manufacturing a liquid crystal display device that makes it possible to obtain a liquid crystal display device excellent in display quality by repairing light leakage with a simple and easy method.SOLUTION: A method for manufacturing a liquid crystal display device includes the steps of: in a liquid crystal panel 100 having a color filter substrate 10, a liquid crystal layer 20, and a counter substrate 30 in this sequence, sticking a front polarizing plate 110 on a front face side of the liquid crystal panel, and a rear polarizing plate 120 on a back face side thereof so that an absorption axis is orthogonal to that of the front polarizing plate; disposing a first phase difference film 130 on a front face side of the front polarizing plate; performing a light leakage inspection that light is radiated from a rear polarizing plate side and leakage of the light emitted from a first phase difference film side is checked; blackening the first phase difference film by irradiating a region, where light leakage has been checked in a plane view, with a laser beam from the first phase difference film side; and disposing a front face panel including a transparent plate-shaped member 140, a second phase difference film 150, and a first polarizing plate 160, with a space held between the first phase difference film and itself.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 【課題】簡易な方法で光漏れを修復し、表示品位の優れた液晶表示装置を得ることができる液晶表示装置の製造方法を提供する。【解決手段】カラーフィルター基板１０と、液晶層２０と、対向基板３０とをこの順に有する液晶パネル１００に対して、液晶パネルの前面側に表偏光板１１０を、背面側に表偏光板と吸収軸が直交するように裏偏光板１２０を貼り付ける工程と、表偏光板の前面側に第一の位相差フィルム１３０を配置する工程と、裏偏光板側から光を照射し、第一の位相差フィルム側から出射される光漏れを確認する光漏れ検査工程と、平面視において光漏れが確認された領域に対して、第一の位相差フィルム側からレーザー光を照射して第一の位相差フィルムを黒化させる工程と、第一の位相差フィルムと間隔を保持して、透明板状部材１４０、第二の位相差フィルム１５０及び第一の偏光板１６０を含む前面パネルを配置する工程と、を有する液晶表示装置の製造方法。【選択図】図１
