To cool a medium with an air stream while stably conveying the medium along belt-like conveying means, especially to prevent flapping of the medium and the conveying means due to the air stream, to thereby achieve good cooling performance with no cooling unevenness.SOLUTION: There is used a medium cooling device having, as cooling means 4 that sandwiches and conveys a medium S with belt-like conveying means 1 and one or more roll-like rotation means 3 and cools the medium S with an air stream, air stream generation means 5 that is arranged above the conveying means 1 and rotation means 3 and generates an air stream, and air stream guide means 6 that guides the air stream generated by the air stream generation means 5 to be directed obliquely downward in a conveyance direction of the conveying means 1, and/or a medium cooling device having air stream passage means 8 that forms, as an air stream passage, a cavity part extending along a longitudinal direction inside a tension member 2 of the belt-like conveying means 1, and air stream generation means 9 that generates an air stream flowing inside the cavity part of the air stream passage member 8.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 【課題】ベルト状の搬送手段に沿って媒体を安定的に搬送しながら空気流により媒体を冷却するに当たり、空気流による媒体、搬送手段のばたつきを抑制し、冷却ムラのない良好な冷却性能を実現する。【解決手段】ベルト状の搬送手段１と一若しくは複数のロール状の回転手段３とで媒体Ｓを挟持して搬送し、媒体Ｓを空気流にて冷却する冷却手段４として、搬送手段１及び回転手段３の上方に配置され、空気流を生成する気流生成手段５と、気流生成手段５にて生成された空気流を搬送手段１の搬送方向に向かって斜め下方に向かうように案内する気流案内手段６と、を有するもの、及び／又は、ベルト状の搬送手段１の張架部材２内に長手方向に沿って延びる空洞部を空気流通路として形成する気流通路手段８と、気流通路手段８の空洞部内に流れる空気流を生成する気流生成手段９と、を有するものを用いる。【選択図】図１
