Abstract To provide systems and methods of bead-type additive manufacturing that do not require repeated adjustment of bead-forming parameters to suppress or prevent failure in finished articles.SOLUTION: The manufacturing system includes a printhead 140, at least one profilometer 180, and a control system. The profilometer measures a manufacturing cross-sectional profile of an existing bead 340 of an article to be manufactured. The control system generates manufacturing profile data including the manufacturing cross-sectional profile and continuously compares the manufacturing profile data to reference profile data of a reference article.
