Summary:To reduce time required for attaching work of a high-frequency coil.SOLUTION: A magnetic resonance imaging apparatus according to an embodiment comprises a coil movement mechanism, an identification unit, and a control unit. The coil movement mechanism moves a high-frequency coil receiving an MR (Magnet Resonance) signal from an analyte, in such a manner that the high-frequency coil can be retracted from an imaging position. The identification unit identifies the high-frequency coil to be used for inspection of the analyte, in accordance with an imaging condition.
