Abstract To create a dither matrix that can generate dot data that appropriately expresses an input value.SOLUTION: A print execution unit is caused to print M patch images by using M dot patterns, and the colors of the M patch images are measured, M measurement values indicating the density of the M dot patterns are acquired, the N corresponding dot patterns to be associated with N input values from among the M dot patterns are selected using the M measured values, and create a dither matrix on the basis of the N corresponding dot patterns. The corresponding dot pattern is selected from a pair of dot patterns that straddle the target density.
