Abstract | To more accurately measure a water level from a muddy bottom.SOLUTION: The water level measurement device is configured by inserting a sensor member of a rod-like shape or a long plate shape into a box-shaped auxiliary member having a window. Attached to the window is a filter having a plug at an upper end thereof. The filter allows water to permeate therethrough while preventing mud from penetrating a side surface. In the sensor member, an underwater calibration electrode, a water level measurement electrode, and an air calibration electrode are attached in this order from a distal end to a front surface. When the water level in the water level measurement device is inserted into the muddy bottom to a position at which the water level is 0, the mud would not enter an inner side of the auxiliary member. Therefore, the influence of mud does not occur in the electrostatic capacitance detected by the underwater calibration electrode attached in the vicinity of the front end. As a result, the water level from the muddy bottom can be measured more accurately.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
