Abstract | To allow for performing processes of reading optical codes and determining reading stability while minimizing an increase in conveyance system cost and preventing deterioration in work efficiency.SOLUTION: A CMOS 112 captures images. A processor 122 reads an optical code contained in image data captured by the CMOS 112 and outputs a signal upon a successful read of the optical code. The processor 122 also computes a first contrast during teaching and a second contrast during the successful read, and determines reading stability on the basis of a reduction rate from the first contrast to the second contrast.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
