Abstract | To protect a power conversion device having a semiconductor switching element while continuously performing power conversion even when the device is affected by an increase in ambient temperature or cooling water temperature.SOLUTION: The power conversion device comprises: an inverter circuit 1 that has a plurality of semiconductor switching elements 1a to 1d; a transformer 2 that steps up or down a voltage output from the inverter circuit; a rectifier circuit 3 that is provided in a subsequent stage of the transformer; a switching control unit 5 that controls the semiconductor switching element; a core temperature measurement unit 62 that measures the core temperature of the transformer; and a core temperature determination unit 51 that determines whether the core temperature measured by the core temperature measurement unit 62 is equal to or higher than a predetermined first threshold value. When the core temperature determination unit 51 determines that the core temperature is equal to or higher than the first threshold value, the switching control unit 5 increases the drive frequency of the semiconductor switching element.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
