Abstract To appropriately make a feature part of an object shape apparent.SOLUTION: In this technique, a surface of a CAD model is discretized into a mesh grid, faces surrounded with discrete points are arranged to reproduce an object shape of the CAD model, an expanded model or a reduced model of the object shape of the CAD model is generated by moving each of the faces in its normal direction, a potential distribution on a surface of the expanded model or the reduced model is obtained by solving a Laplace equation for an electrostatic field on the surface based on a boundary element method on the assumption that the surface of the expanded model or the reduced model is electrified with uniform charge, and a feature part of the object shape is detected on the basis of the obtained potential distribution.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 7 【課題】物体形状の特徴部分を適切に顕在化すること。【解決手段】この技術は、CADモデルの表面を格子網に離散化し、離散点によって囲まれる面を並べることでCADモデルの物体形状を再現し、各面を各面の法線方向に移動させることで、CADモデルの物体形状の膨張モデル又は収縮モデルを生成し、膨張モデル又は収縮モデルの表面に一様な電荷が帯電しているものとみなし、境界要素法による表面上の静電場に対するラプラス方程式を解くことで膨張モデル又は収縮モデルの表面の電位分布を求め、求められた電位分布に基づき物体形状の特徴部分を検出する。【選択図】図7
