Summary: | To provide an image reading apparatus capable of obtaining auxiliary signals even in an imaging optical system in which many small-sized imaging lenses are arranged.SOLUTION: An image reading apparatus 101 according to the present invention includes: a light source 12 for imaging which illuminates a reading object 1 with illumination light; a plurality of sensor chips 25 which have a lens 18 and a lens 20 respectively and read each of a plurality of imaging optical elements 15 and images formed by the plurality of imaging optical elements 15; and a light source 40 for ranging which irradiates the reading object 1 with auxiliary signal light directed to the lens 18 from the lens 20 of a target imaging optical element which is the imaging optical element 15 to be subjected among the plurality of imaging optical elements 15. The light source 40 for ranging is disposed so that the auxiliary signal light is read by the sensor chips 25 reading the image of the adjacent imaging optical element adjacent to the target imaging optical element.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
