Summary:To provide a method for producing fluorescent material in which plural types of a single-color fluorescent material excellent in fluorescence can be made even if there are differences between parts of shellfish, differences between individuals, differences between types, and other variations.SOLUTION: The method comprises: a step of running crushed pieces of calcined shells having a major diameter of 10 mm or less on a conveyor attached with ultraviolet-excitation beam source, fluorescence wavelength detector and sorter; and a step of sorting, while irradiating ultraviolet to the crushed pieces running through the conveyor, the crushed pieces running through the conveyor into a plurality of groups according to the fluorescence wavelength of a fluorescence caused by said irradiation.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 6 【課題】貝の部分ごとの差、個体差、種類ごとの差やその他のバラツキがあったとしても、発光が卓越した単一色の蛍光材を複数種類作製することができる蛍光材の製造方法を提供する。【解決手段】長径が10mm以下の焼成された貝殻の破砕片を紫外線励起線源と発光波長検出器と選別機とを付帯したコンベアに流す工程と、前記コンベアを流れる破砕片に紫外線を照射しつつ、前記照射により生じた発光の発光波長に応じて前記コンベアを流れる前記破砕片を複数のグループに選別する工程と、を含む。【選択図】図6
