To provide a technology which alleviates an impact when a liquid absorption sheet is brought into contact with a transfer part.SOLUTION: A recording device includes: a transfer part and a non-transfer part which are circularly moved; recording means which discharges ink to the transfer part and forms an ink image on the transfer part; transfer means which performs a transfer operation of transferring the ink image formed on the transfer part onto a recording medium; and liquid absorption means which absorbs a liquid component from the ink image on the transfer part before the transfer operation, where the liquid absorption means includes: an endless liquid absorption sheet; driving means which circularly rotationally moves the liquid absorption sheet; and displacement means which displaces the liquid absorption sheet between a contact state where the liquid absorption sheet can be brought into contact with the transfer part and a retreat state.
