To provide a portable toilet and an arm rest in which a release operation part for releasing a holding state of rotation of an arm rest can be easily operated.SOLUTION: A portable toilet comprises a left and right pair of arm rests 7 which are separated in a lateral direction. Each of the pair of arm rests 7 comprises an arm rest body part 71, a holding part, and a release operation part. The arm rest body part 71 is connected to the toilet body 4 through a rotation shaft 633 along a lateral direction, and is rotatable between a first posture extending in a cross direction and a second posture obtained by rotating from the first posture. The holding part holds the arm rest body part 71 to the toilet body 4 when the arm rest body part 71 is in a first posture. The release operation part can release the holding state of the arm rest body part 71 by the holding part by an operation performed by a user.
