To provide an underpants type diaper whose one side is opened, in which an open side is hardly broken during wearing time, and the open side and an opposite side can be easily separated during exchange time of a diaper.SOLUTION: An absorbent article comprises a vertical direction, a lateral direction and a cross direction, and comprises: a front waist part along the lateral direction; a rear waist part along the lateral direction; and a crotch part provided between the front waist part and the rear waist part. One end part of the rear waist part in the lateral direction and one end part of the front waist part in the lateral direction are jointed by a first joint part. The other end part of the rear waist part in the lateral direction is jointed with an engagement member having an engagement part which can be engaged to the front waist part during wearing time, by a second joint part.
