Abstract To provide a magnetic separation device and a magnetic separation method which is configured so as to permit improvement of magnetic separation operation efficiency by fitting a number of sheets of magnetic filters into an annular cable body and endlessly moving the magnetic filters.SOLUTION: A magnetic separation device includes: a superconductive magnet 3 having a bore 3a; a flow pipe 4 which is penetrated and arranged into the bore 3a of the superconductive magnet 3 and causes slurry containing substances to be separated that applies magnetism to flow therethrough; a number of sheets of magnetic filters 5 which can adsorb the substances to be separated in the slurry within the flow pipe 4; and a filter movement mechanism 6 which moves the magnetic filters 5 to the inside and outside of the flow pipe 4.
