Abstract PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To evenly distribute gas to each of cylinders while compactly laying out an intake passage in an intake device for a multiple cylinder engine.SOLUTION: An intake passage 30 includes: a plurality of independent passages 39 connected with each of intake ports 17, 18; a surge tank 38 to which an upstream side end of the independent passage 39 is connected; first and second branch passages 46R, 46L having lower ends connected with the surge tank 38; and upstream side common passages 43-45 having a downstream side end from which the first and the second branch passages 46R, 46L are branched.
