Abstract | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projector that can easily adjust the direction of an image to be displayed even when a projection target surface is freely selected by a user, and a method for controlling display of the projector.SOLUTION: A projector comprises a reflecting mirror 35 that reflects and displays light projected from a projection optical system 43. The reflecting mirror 35 is provided displaceable between a position extending on a light path in a light emission direction of the projection optical system 43 and reflecting an image and a position outside the light path, and includes an opening detection part 21 that detects the opening of the reflecting mirror 35, and a direction adjustment part 23 that adjusts the direction of an image formed by a light modulation device 42 according to the detected opening of the reflecting mirror 35.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
