Abstract | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical waveguide capable of enhancing light propagation efficiency by reducing propagation loss of light due to defect formed in a concave groove.SOLUTION: The optical waveguide includes: a clad layer formed with a concave groove in a principal plane; and a core layer which is laminated over the clad layer at the principal plane side for embedding the concave groove. Defining that, in a cross section shape of the concave groove perpendicular to extending direction of the concave groove, positions at 1/2 of depth of the concave groove as A and B, and a position that a straight line extended an a depth direction from the center of a line segment connecting A and B as C, the concave groove has a curved part which has a curvature radius of 1/5 or more of the depth of the concave groove in at least a part of portion from A to C and from B to C.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
