Abstract | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device capable of performing detection of a car body without an influence on car shape data, even in the case where water droplets, garbage, dirt and the like are attached to a light emitting part and a light receiving part.SOLUTION: A car washing machine includes: a car shape detection device which takes in a shape of an automobile as car shape data according to relative movement of the automobile and a body frame; a car washing processing device which acts on a car body surface based on the car shape data 10 taken in from the car shape detection device; and a car entering sensor which detects an end part of the automobile. The car shape detection device includes: a car shape sensor 10 comprising a light emitting part 10a in which a plurality of light emitting elements L are arrayed vertically and a light receiving part 10b in which a plurality of light receiving elements R opposing to the light emitting elements L of the light emitting part 10a are arrayed vertically; and a car shape detection part 24 for detecting presence/absence of a car body depending on a light receiving level in the light receiving elements R according to the light emission of the light emitting elements L. A threshold value of the light receiving level for determining presence/absence of the car body changes before and after the detection of the end part of the automobile by the car entering sensor.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
