Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the amount of emission of ultrafine particle dust emitted from fixing means to the outside compared with a case where an image forming apparatus comprises an air intake duct that is connected on the upstream side of filter means on the inside of exhaust duct and introduces air from the outside of a housing.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus comprises: fixing means that heats a recording medium holding an unfixed image to fix the image; first exhaust means 76 that is arranged at one end of the fixing means along a direction intersecting with the recording medium conveying direction and exhausts air around the fixing means to the outside; second exhaust means 87 that is arranged on the downstream side of the fixing means along the recording medium conveyance direction and exhausts ambient air to the outside; and an exhaust duct member 77 that combines exhausted gas from the first exhaust means 76 and exhausted gas from the second exhaust means 87 and guides the combined gas to an exhaust port 78 in the back face of an apparatus body.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 6 【課題】排気ダクトの内部におけるフィルタ手段よりも上流側に連結され、筐体の外部から空気を導入する入気ダクトを備えた場合に比較して、定着手段から外部に排出される超微粒子粉塵の排出量を低減させる。【解決手段】未定着画像を保持した記録媒体を加熱して定着する定着手段と、前記定着手段の前記記録媒体搬送方向と交差する方向に沿った一端部に配置され、前記定着手段の周囲の空気を外部に排出する第1の排気手段76と、定着手段の記録媒体搬送方向に沿った下流側に配置され、周囲の空気を外部に排出する第2の排気手段87と、第1の排気手段76の排気と第2の排気手段87の排気とを合流させて装置本体背面の排気口78に導く排気ダクト部材77と、を備える。【選択図】図6
