Abstract PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device for a vehicle which can quickly reduce a forward vehicle speed when the vehicle moves forward in a state that constitution of a reverse range is indicated.SOLUTION: When forward movement of a vehicle in a state that a shift lever is positioned in a R-position (Reverse position) is detected, vehicle speed reduction control is performed. In the vehicle speed reduction control, for example, a brake actuator or the like is controlled, prescribed hydraulic pressure is input to the brake actuator from a brake master cylinder irrespective of an operation of a brake pedal, the hydraulic pressure is distributed to respective brakes, and thus, brake forces are automatically applied to wheels from respective brakes (automatic brake operation).
