PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reciprocating hermetic refrigerant compressor which can reduce both of the vibration and the size.SOLUTION: A hermetic refrigerant compressor 10A includes an electric element 20A and a compression element 30 stored in a hermetic container 11, and the compression element 30 has a cylinder 32 and a piston 33 reciprocating in the cylinder 32. The electric element 20A includes a stator 21A, and a rotor 22A arranged in such a manner that a lower surface thereof faces an oil surface of lubricating oil 13. A diameter of the rotor 22A is larger than its length in a rotation axis direction.
